HCS Intermediate (Grades 5 & 6)
HCS Intermediate is a new initiative we are kicking off for the 2024-2025 school year. Throughout the past few years, we have observed a growing need for additional support for our students transitioning from elementary to secondary. From time management to organizational skills, students at this pivotal time in development need intentional training to be prepared for the independence that comes as a secondary student. In other words, we need a more structured bridge for our elementary and secondary students: HCS Intermediate will serve as that bridge.
- An intermediate block of 4 teachers focused on helping students to make a healthy transition from elementary to secondary
- Two intentional years of strengthening habits of independence such as executive functioning skills, organization skills, responsibility, and study skills
- Fostering the spiritual growth of students in this pivotal stage through an enriched study of Route 66 and worldview development
- Kick-start to band for all students in grade 5 and continued skill development in grade 6
- Quarterly classes of Art, Foreign Language, Physical Education, and Technology
- Weekly chapel together
- Recess four days a week
- Consistent communication with families via FACTS SIS
- Weekly newsletter to families via email
